Our skin, much like the rest of our body, tends to respond to our lifestyle. It’s not enough just to slather on an expensive moisturizer occasionally and hope that our youth will keep our face forever soft and wrinkle-free. Stress, bad habits, improper skincare, and environmental pollution take their toll, and every lady who cares about her physical appearance should be mindful of these factors every day. Allow yourself some downtime, and indulge in some TLC if you want skin that is luxuriously lush, firm, and radiant. Here’s how you can do it.

Steam your face

Steaming your face is the perfect step to add to your cleansing routine occasionally because it opens up your pores and makes it easier for the dirt to slide right out. You can do it once a week, right before exfoliating to make the process even more effective. You could do a herbal steam for some amazing results, and after you’ve cleansed thoroughly, put on a nourishing sheet mask to rejuvenate the skin. Make it a little weekend ritual where you take time for some pampering.

Sun protection

No beauty product will ever work quite as well as simple SPF does in fighting signs of aging. We tend to grow lax now that summer is over, but it’s very important to apply sunscreen every single day if we want to avoid those deep lines and spots that plague those who spend too much time in the sun. Either use sunscreen on its own, or use a moisturizer with a high SPF for your daily dose of protection. Some foundations do contain SPF in them, but if it’s lower than 30 then it won’t do you much good.

Lip Care

Are your lips constantly dry? It’s possible that you’re slightly dehydrated and that you need to up your water intake. Winter is near, so lip protection should take priority. Do a lip scrub every week by rubbing your lips with a mix of brown sugar and honey, and apply a thick layer of good lip balm to keep them soft. Want an awesome hack for beautifully tinted lips? The beauty editor for Vogue Australia, Sigourney Cantelo uses beetroot juice to tint her lips. Aussies really do have the best beauty hacks, and this easy way to paint your lips will make them look completely natural.

Costmetic treatments

Speaking of Aussies, there’s a great trend of cosmetic treatments in the country, and they’re not shy to schedule appointments for things like microdermabrasion, dermal fillers, and thread lifting. These safe non-surgical face treatments in Sydney are all the rage, especially because they have minimal downtime, so they’re very popular with businesswomen. It’s a good idea to take this Aussie example and treat yourself to an occasional chemical peel at a good clinic, or even ask a cosmetician to help fix some small flaw on your face. Simply relax and let professionals take care of you while you get a stunning face transformation.

Skincare according to your type

Everyone has different skin, and what works for one person might not work for the next. Do you have oily or combo skin? The biggest mistake people make is that they think they don’t need to use moisturizer. You do, but make sure it’s non-comedogenic and gel based, and wash your face twice a day. Similarly, if your skin is dry you might need a thicker moisturizer, and you might also really benefit from using a skin serum. If you’re not sure what your skin type is, ask a dermatologist and have them recommend a good routine for you.
The last thing to keep in mind is a good diet. Greasy, sugary foods can easily break you out and degrade the quality of your skin, but a meal plan filled with fruits, veggies, and lean meats can really make a difference. Take care of your skin even if you’re still very young, and it will repay you by staying youthful and glowing for a long time to come.
