The Christmas party at work is approaching and you were the lucky one who got to be your boss’s Secret Santa. You are in an unflattering situation, to say the least, especially if your boss is female. Women are generally more demanding when it comes to choosing an adequate gift and the fact that she’s your boss isn’t helping the situation at all. So, now what? You’re in a pickle, but you can get out.

You just need to be wise and think of a perfect gift, one that is not too personal, but also not generic, a gift that will suit your boss, but also not make other co-workers hate you for buying it. A wise man once said that true intelligence lies in knowing the measure of all things and our job today is to help you find one in this particular situation.
Buying a gadget for the office or for personal use is always a good idea if your boss is into these things. If the answer is yes, a nice digital photo frame is a cool solution as it’s not personal, but still not boring. If your boss has a sense of humour, you could buy her a desktop punching ball for stress relief or a silent mouse for angry clicks to not be heard by others in the office or in its vicinity. A digital smartpen is a perfect gift for someone who is often running meetings. This pen has audio recording options, as well as the power to convert written materials into digital formats.
Another area you could go into is fitness. Of course, you need to tread very carefully when it comes to women and fitness. You can buy your boss a piece of equipment only if you know for sure that she is into fitness stuff. A treadmill desk is a great gift for a boss, the only problem is that it might be a bit expensive, so if you’re teaming up with colleagues for a gift, then this might be a good choice. Cool wireless headphones are also a great gift for someone who works out or jogs.
If you want to go intimate, you can try buying your boss something that has a personal note. Some creative personalised gifts for her may include a personalised compact mirror, wallet or a document holder. It’s classy and work-appropriate and we’re sure your boss will like it and probably use it in her daily work routine. This is a very safe option since you would minimize the percentage of negative responses since this is a generally acceptable gift for most people.
Buying your boss cosmetics is a good option when you know what kind of cosmetics she uses. It’s never good to try and guess it yourself. In that respect, try to find out what kind of products she uses and then buy her that. In case you don’t know and cannot find out, it’s much better if you buy her a voucher so she can choose her own cosmetics. Options are many and the probability of you guessing the right products converges to zero.
Fashion accessories such as a nice scarf, jewelry, earrings, bracelets, etc. are always welcome. However, you need to make sure this is of the appropriate style. Another thing to keep in mind is that it shouldn’t seem romantic in any way. So, depending on her style and what you choose to buy, make sure to convey the right message during the process. You don’t want your gift to be interpreted as something else by your colleagues and especially your boss.
Basically, the good news is that you do have many options when it comes to buying a present for your boss. However, there are many traps you can fall into on your way to getting that gift. We hope we managed to give you some pointers and highlights and wish you the best of luck in finding that perfect gift for your lady boss.
